REFSQ 2026
Mon 23 - Thu 26 March 2026 Poznań, Poland

About

A diverse set of soft and technical skills is essential for effectively conducting the requirements engineering activities. These skills can be acquired by formal education, on-the-job training, or other external courses in forms of lectures focusing on theory and hands-on practice using online or offline platforms.

The REFSQ 2026 Education and Training Track seeks to convene educators from academia and industry to share and discuss best practices, tools, findings, experiences, and opportunities, with the aim of optimally preparing requirements engineers for real-world scenarios.

Format of the Event

The event will feature two sessions of inspirational talks and two additional sessions devoted to active collaboration and discussion. These discussions will take place in moderated open spaces, supported by templates designed to capture meaningful insights, allowing participants to leave with new ideas and tools.

We cordially invite you to join us in collectively advancing knowledge in requirements engineering education and training.

Education & Training Track at REFSQ 2026

We are pleased to invite contributions to the Education & Training track at REFSQ 2026, which aims to provide a forum for educators, researchers, industry trainers, and practitioners to share their best practices, tools, and insights on education and training related to Requirements Engineering (RE). The primary objective of this track is to foster discussions and community-building around the teaching and learning of RE, and to explore how the field is evolving in response to emerging technologies and practices.

This year’s edition places emphasis on the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on education and training for RE. The increasing integration of AI into engineering tools, decision-making systems, and educational technologies presents both opportunities and challenges for RE educators and researchers. AI is changing how we teach and learn, what skills are most critical, and how students and professionals interact with requirements processes.

We encourage submissions that provide evidence-based insights, critical reflections, reusable resources, and experience reports on how RE education is being reshaped by AI, while also welcoming contributions on more traditional and ongoing educational experiences.

Topics of Interest

Submissions should focus on fostering collaboration between research institutes, industry, and higher education institutions. We welcome submissions on the following topics, though not limited to:

  • Best practices in RE education and training
  • Experience reports in RE education and training
  • Case studies from industry practitioners and academic researchers
  • Use of generative AI (e.g., large language models) in RE exercises, problems and projects in academia
  • Educational strategies for responsible and ethical use of AI tools in RE assignments
  • Use of AI to support formative and summative assessment in RE education and training
  • Ethical considerations in the use of AI within RE education and assessment
  • AI-based and traditional tools and techniques for effective teaching and learning in RE
  • Innovative approaches to curriculum design and modernization in RE
  • Challenges and opportunities in bridging the gap between academia and industry in RE education and training
  • Current training practices, tools, and techniques that are relevant in industry
  • Experiences in setting up internal organizational communities to improve RE skills

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be in the form of full papers (up to 6 pages), or presentations.

There is an Overleaf template as well as a downloadable offline template for the REFSQ proceedings.

All submissions will undergo a review process by the Education & Training track program committee. Accepted submissions will be presented during dedicated sessions at the conference.

We encourage professionals and researchers in the field of requirements engineering education and training to contribute to this engaging track. Share your experiences, insights, and ideas to enrich the community and collectively raise the level of competency in requirements engineering.

Full Papers

Submit full papers of up to 6 pages (excluding references and appendices), which may include original work on best practices, research trends, or experience reports addressing challenges related to requirements engineering education and training. Full papers will be included in the REFSQ 2026 Workshop proceedings.

Presentations

Participants, particularly those from industry or training organizations, are invited to share their experiences through presentations. For presentation submissions, please submit a presentation summary of up to 2 pages summarizing the core message of the presentation contribution. Presentations of previously published work on requirements engineering education and training are also welcome. Please be advised that presentations or summaries will not be included in the published proceedings.

Submission Platform

Contributions should be submitted using EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=refsq2026

Make sure to select the Education and Training option.
